About Us
Healthy Planet Indonesia (HePI) was founded in 2020 by Dr. Hotlin Ompusunggu, a dentist and conservationist dedicated to breaking the cycle between poverty and illegal logging through healthcare. After years of successful conservation efforts in Borneo with her co-founded organization Alam Sehat Lestari (ASRI), Hotlin returned to her homeland, Sumatra, to continue her mission of proving that communities and forests can thrive together.

Vision and Mission
Vision
A world where healthy people and healthy forests coexist harmoniously, supported by empowered communities.
Mission
At HePI, we are integrating conservation and healthcare through community-based projects to break the cycle between poverty and deforestation. Our goal is to empower forest communities to become guardians of their environment, ensuring a future where both people and forests thrive in harmony.
Our Founder
Dr. Hotlin Ompusunggu
Dr. Hotlin Ompusunggu is a dentist and an award winning conservationist from Indonesia, known for her innovative approach to integrating healthcare and environmental conservation. Her work has focused on breaking the cycle between poverty and illegal logging by using healthcare as a powerful incentive for community driven conservation efforts.
- In 2005, she organized a medical team that provided aid to victims of the tsunami in Aceh. She was in close contact with those who had lost everything and knows the difference that education and preparation can make. That’s why she is on a mission on to spread safety awareness to her fellow Indonesians.
- In 2007, she went one step further and fights to protect both human health and the environment. Through her co-founded Alam Sehat Lestari (ASRI) organization, which is based in Indonesia’s West Kalimantan region, Hotlin protects both humans and orangutans. She does this by providing villages with healthcare incentives in exchange for an end to harmful logging practices.
- In 2018, Hotlin returned to Sumatra – her homeland – and achieved conservation success there by continuing to prove that communities and forests can thrive together. She then founded HePI in 2020.
